Kilo Ampere Switch specializes in the design and manufacture of high current switches and flexible jumpers. Emphasis is on custom designed applications. The Kilo Ampere Switch module design has been used for more than 30 years on fixed installation with currents as high as 500,000 ampere and on portable switches, both air cooled and water cooled, for currents as high as 75,000 ampere. The HSG High Current Switch is a high capacity switch designed to perform bypassing and disconnecting operations for high currents at low voltages. It has proven its reliablility through testing and extensive field experience.
The HSG Switch is made up of one or more Type HSM, HSME or HVSME Switch module operating in parallel. Ganged assemblies may be ordered with capacities of 3,000 to over 500,000 ampere dc. Because of low operating torque, the switch functions easily and smoothly with either manual or pneumatic actuation.
Each switch module consists of rigid and flexible terminals, which bolt to the busbar. The solid terminal supports the drive mechanism. Easily accessible arcing contacts protect the main contacts which carry the current between the terminals. Because of the flexible strap, both misalignment and thermal expansion of the busbar are readily accommodated.The Kilo Ampere Switch module has many diverse applications including electrochemical processes, refinery and plating operations, rectifier bypass operations, etc. The switch module can be used in indoor or outdoor applications. The kA switch module design can be easily adapted to replace other existing high current switches.
