The kA Switch module has many diverse applications including electrochemical processes, refinery and plating operations, rectifier bypass operations, etc. The switch module can be used in indoor or outdoor applications. The kA module design can be easily adapted to replace oher existing high current switches.

80kA Portable Cell Switch
Mechanical Operation:
On a pneumatically operated 20 module switch, with a gang switching time of 2.0 seconds, the synchronization of modules was within 0.28 seconds.
High Temperature Heat Run
After operating for 30 days at 160°C for 1,000 cycles, no appreciable increase in contact resistance was found. Operating temperature of switches is generally below 100°C.
Temperature Rise
With deliberate overload the temperature rise in the switch was far less than that of the bus bar.Lab Testing Large Gang Switch
dc Switching
After 1,000 cycle no signs of arcing were found on main contacts. Wear on arcing contacts was not enough to make them inoperable.
Overload Switching
Switch modules rated at 6000 ampere were opened and closed momentarily under loads of 10,000, 20,000 and 25,000 ampere. There was no deterioration of the arcing contacts, no arc transference to main contacts, no increase in contact resistance, and no change in operating torque.
